Types of Anaesthesia:

There are different types of anaesthesia used depending on the nature of the medical procedure, the patient's medical history, and other factors.

Regional anaesthesia is used to numb a specific part of the body while the patient remains conscious. This type of anaesthesia is commonly used for surgeries of the arms, legs, or lower body. Few examples of regional anaesthesia include epidural (To provide pain relief (analgesia) for labour and childbirth, certain surgeries), spinal (numbs your nerves to give pain relief in certain areas of your body), brachial block (for surgery of the upper extremity.), wrist block (o provide anaesthesia of the hand and fingers), ankle block (Anaesthesia of the foot).

Local Anaesthesia:

Local anaesthesia is used to numb a small area of the body, usually around the site of the procedure. It can be administered as a topical cream, injection, or spray.

Sedation:

Sedation is used to relax the patient and reduce anxiety during the procedure. It can be administered through an IV or inhaled gas.

Anaesthesiologists are responsible for ensuring the safety and comfort of the patient during the procedure. They take a comprehensive medical history and perform a physical examination to determine the best course of action for each patient. They also monitor the patient's vital signs, such as heart rate and blood pressure, throughout the procedure to ensure that they remain stable.

In addition, anaesthesiologists are trained to respond quickly in case of an emergency during the procedure. They are trained to manage any complications that may arise during the administration of anaesthesia, such as an allergic reaction or an adverse drug reaction.
